TYPSA Group

TYPSA Foundation for development

TYPSA created the Fundación TYPSA para la Cooperación (TYPSA Foundation for Development) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility commitment in October 2008. The Foundation is registered as a charity at the Ministry of Culture (Official Spanish Gazette, 16/12/2008) and as a Non-Governmental Development Organisation (NGDO) at the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AECID). Launched to help improve living conditions in disadvantaged communities, the Foundation provides resources to build capacity for self-sustaining development. TYPSA Group donates 0.7% of its profit in cash and kind, thereby providing the primary source of income. Further support comes from TYPSA Group employees and from anybody wishing to donate to the Foundation’s projects (Bank Account: ES61 0081 5213 2900 0105 5007). The Foundation targets its main focus on the educational project at Lake Albert University (UNILAC) in Mahagi (Democratic Republic of the Congo). It financed the construction of the University facilities and is now concentrating on developing the quality of education at the Civil and Agricultural Engineering faculties, as well as helping graduates enter the job market. In addition, the Foundation provides support to two other major initiatives. One is the educational project in Garissa, Kenya, where a training institute for secondary teachers has been built and a technical agricultural training centre is under construction. The other is the REACTIVE project in collaboration with the Paediatric ICU at La Paz Children’s Hospital in Madrid, where TYPSA’s BIM Department is developing immersive virtual reality techniques that will improve children’s recovery in hospital.
