Key facts

Upgrade of the Barranco de la Bota – Masia de la Torreta road section, which totals 7.8 km in mountainous terrain with complex orography and geology and adverse climate conditions.

198 m long tunnel with a 140 m2 cross section. NATM drill and blast excavation method. Concrete lining using a formwork carriage for large cross-sections. 60 m long cut-and-cover tunnel with 140 m2 cross section.

482 m long outstanding viaduct across the Barranco de la Bota ravine. A double pointed arch in weathering steel with variable rectangular cross-section was designed for the 102 m long main span. The arches are curved in plan view and are connected to each other by steel diagonals forming a 9 m wide curved horizontal truss structure (spatial structure). The arch and the deck were erected using a special 140 m long launching gantry.

8 viaducts (1,160 m total length) with decks consisting of precast concrete beams 2 m deep and 40 m long. Decks erected using an 80 m long launching gantry.

Aerostability analysis of the arch during construction and in service. Steel arch welding procedure supervision both in the workshop and on-site.
