Key facts

Upgrade of the Barranco de la Bota – Masia de la Torreta road section, which totals 7.8 km in mountainous terrain with complex orography and geology and adverse climate conditions.

198 m long tunnel with a 140 m2 cross section. NATM drill and blast excavation method. Concrete lining using a formwork carriage for large cross-sections. 60 m long cut-and-cover tunnel with 140 m2 cross section.

482 m long outstanding viaduct across the Barranco de la Bota ravine. A double pointed arch in weathering steel with variable rectangular cross-section was designed for the 102 m long main span. The arches are curved in plan view and are connected to each other by steel diagonals forming a 9 m wide curved horizontal truss structure (spatial structure). The arch and the deck were erected using a special 140 m long launching gantry.

8 viaducts (1,160 m total length) with decks consisting of precast concrete beams 2 m deep and 40 m long. Decks erected using an 80 m long launching gantry.

On-site construction engineering and construction supervision services. Preparation of revised and additional designs including the new design for the Barranco de la Bota Viaduct. Aerostability analysis of the arch during construction and in service. Steel arch welding procedure supervision both in the workshop and on-site.
