Key facts

Section 4: Can Zam – Bon Pastor. 5.4 km total length, 4.1 km excavated using a 12 m diameter TBM (10.9 inner diameter) and 1.3 km C&C. 6 stations and 1 depot, all subsurface.

Section 2: Parc Logístic/Zona Franca – Zona Universitaria. 11 km total length, 7 km excavated using a 12 m diameter TBM and 4 km on viaduct. 10 subsurface and 5 surface stations.

Stations: Circular-shaft station typology, 25 m – 32 m in diameter and 25 m – 50 m deep. Stations known as ‘sarcophagus type’ when the tunnel runs through the station shaft and ‘bulb type’ when the tunnel is adjacent to the station shaft. Surface stations on sections on viaduct.

Section 2: The section begins in Quaternary Period deltaic soils (sands and clays) with a very high groundwater level. The middle section is in Tertiary Period soils – Miocene (gravel with clayey matrix) and Pliocene (claystone and siltstone) – with a medium groundwater level. The last section is in Mesozoic igneous rock (granodiorites).

Section 4: Can Zam branch is in Mesozoic igneous rock (granodiorites). Gorg branch is in Tertiary Period Miocene soils (gravels with clay matrix), and the section from Sagrera to the Bifurcación shaft is in Quaternary deltaic and fluvial soils (sand and clayey silts).
