Lima Metro lines 2 and 4

In March 2014, the state-owned company responsible for the management and tender of national infrastructure concessions, PROINVERSIÓN, awarded the construction and 35-year operation contract for Line 2 and for the Line 4 airport branch line, to LIMA METRO LINE 2 Consortium, which includes two Spanish firms. This major project, with a budget of 3,800 million euros, is one of the largest engineering projects in Latin America.

Line 2 requires construction of a total of 27 km underground as well as 27 stations. The Av. Faucett – Av. Gambetta Branch requires the construction of 8 km underground and 8 stations, including one at the airport.

The new lines will link 13 districts in Lima and Callao: Ate Vitarte, Santa Anita, San Luis, Al Agustino, La Victoria, Breña, Jesús María, Cercado de Lima, San Miguel, La Perla, Bellavista, Carmen de la Lengua and Cercado del Callao, and will serve approximately 2.4 million inhabitants. Thanks to this project it will take just 45 minutes to travel the 27 kilometres separating Ate and Callao, substantially reducing the current journey time of two hours or more.

TYPSA is preparing the final design of the section of Line 2 from Benavides Station, located near the junction of Av. Amezaga and Av. Benavides, to the port of Callao, and of the entire line 4 branch line (Av. Faucett-Av .Gambetta), for the construction consortium carrying out the works. The contract includes the design of all the Metro system elements and the necessary ancillary works, including 14 km of TBM-bored tunnel and 14 cut & cover underground stations.
