After participating in the first phase of the public tender organised by the Spanish Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), TYPSA has been selected to develop an innovative solution to combat fog on the A-8 Motorway in Lugo.
The motorway suffers serious visibility problems caused by the presence of fog on the Mondoñedo – A Xesta section in Galicia. To solve the problem, TYPSA proposes to divert fog over the motorway using static and dynamic barriers with vertical axis fans.
The technical and economic feasibility of this innovative solution has already been proven in an R&D project for the Directorate General for Roads. A full-scale 200 m long prototype will soon be built on the motorway itself to demonstrate the effectiveness of the solution in a real environment.
