TYPSA strengthens its presence in Tanzania with a new office

TYPSA is consolidating its presence in Tanzania with the opening and refurbishment of a new office in Dar es Salaam, the country’s main economic and educational centre. Located in the residential neighbourhood of Oyster Bay, one of the city’s quietest and most exclusive areas, the office forms part of TYPSA’s regional organisation for East Africa, under the leadership of Jesús Izquierdo Martínez, Regional Director, and the local management of Ignacio Vega, Country Manager in Tanzania and Regional Deputy Manager.

The new premises, which opened in November 2025, have been designed as a functional space that reflects TYPSA’s corporate identity. Their decoration and refurbishment provide a comfortable, efficient working environment, well-suited to day-to-day coordination with clients, local partners and project teams.

TYPSA has a team of nine professionals in Tanzania who work both from the Dar es Salaam office and from the various projects sites we have across the country, with technical support from TYPSA’s offices in Spain. This enables us to monitor projects more effectively, respond more swiftly to market demands whilst tailoring our approach to each client’s needs, and further develop our business in the country and the region. For our clients and partners, this translates into more continuous support throughout all phases of the projects.

TYPSA is currently carrying out three main projects in Tanzania relating to the railway sector and transport infrastructure, particularly within the framework of the Standard Gauge Railway.

The first involves the development of various urban infrastructure projects (canals and roads) as part of the TACTIC programme (Tanzania Cities Transforming Infrastructure and Competitiveness). These include the rehabilitation of 10 km of urban infrastructure, improving connectivity to the Chuno market, the construction of the main bus terminal in Chipuputa and its access roads, access to the town of Samia, the Skoya workshop for small-scale industries, and the engineers’ office. The contract includes the review and adaptation of the project to the World Bank’s environmental and climate change guidelines.

The second contract involves the design review and supervision of the works to rehabilitate the road between Lusahunga and Rusumo, carried out in partnership with other companies. This covers a 92 km section of the country’s central corridor, in the Kagera and Geita regions.

The third contract involves the design review, supervision and project management of the works on the railway line between Tabora and Kigoma, also in partnership, covering a 506 km stretch.

The opening of this office reinforces TYPSA’s commitment to Tanzania and East Africa, a region with significant growth prospects in areas such as infrastructure, transport, water, energy and urban development. Our permanent presence enables the company to strengthen its close ties with clients and partners, improve its responsiveness and continue to consolidate its position as one of the leading consultancy firms in the regional market.
