TYPSA at the Transforming Transportation 2023 Congress

TYPSA participated in the ICEX Direct Mission at the Transforming Transportation 2023 Congress, organized in conjunction with the World Bank (WB) and the World Resources Institute (WRI) in Washington DC from March 13-15. The Embassy of Spain held a welcome event to raise awareness of the transportation investment plans of the U.S. government and the Washington-based Development Banks. The Congress took place at the World Bank headquarters and the challenges of transportation were addressed with a focus on the future, to become safer, more sustainable, efficient and inclusive.

TYPSA participated in the panel “Spain Going Green: transport innovation to address climate change”, which also included representatives from Adif, TMB and Idom.  TYPSA shared experience in the development of sustainable mobility plans, with European funds, in several cities in Andalusia. The presentation aroused interest in the World Bank, and we are preparing the first expressions of interest related to the decarbonization of transport. To close the Mission, the representatives of the Spanish companies met with the Chief Executive Officers of Spain at the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank, together with some of their transport specialists. The main concerns of the companies were raised, related to ever tighter budgets, increasingly ambitious scopes and the lack of involvement of the Banks when problems arise in the implementation of projects. We were grateful for the opportunity to convey these messages directly and returned with the determination to pursue opportunities that offer us greater strategic positioning in sectors of high international projection.
