Key facts

The bridge crosses the River Coco linking the Departments of Nueva Segovia and Jinotega.

Prestressed concrete bridge, cast in situ by balanced cantilever method in a high-risk seismic area, with a total length of 312.5 m and a central span of 125 m. At the time of its inauguration, it had the longest span in Nicaragua and was the country’s second longest bridge.

Built taking climate change into account. It is hydraulically designed for a period of 100 years and is able to evacuate a flow of 8.393 m3 per second.

The bridge promotes development and better transportation conditions on Central American roads. It will allow traffic to be safe, rapid, smooth and uninterrupted across a large part of the country encouraging economic and social development and boosting trade. It will directly benefit more than 735,000 residents living in communities and municipalities in both departments.
