Key facts

Objective: to ensure water security for the populations of Brazil’s semi-arid region by transferring water from the São Francisco River to strategic reservoirs and water systems in the region.

Integrated set of civil, hydraulic, electromechanical, and automation works, including concrete-lined canals, aqueducts, tunnels, inverted siphons, balancing reservoirs, pumping stations and electrical substations, as well as operational supervision and control systems.

Water is transferred via two main axes, North and East, which together total 477 km of canals and include 27 reservoirs, 13 aqueducts, 9 tunnels, and 9 pumping stations, enabling the system to overcome elevation differences of up to 390 meters.

The Project was designed for a maximum flow rate of 127 m³/s; in 2026, the total installed pumping capacity stands at 38.75 m³/s.

Detailed design and construction support services for Section I of the North Axis. Management, operation, and maintenance plan for the infrastructure and receiving water bodies.

Studies and updates to the economic and financial modeling with a view to structuring the administrative concession; management and construction supervision on the Apodi Branch; FIDIC Engineer for the Cariri Branch Water Supply System.
