ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING AT ANDÉVALO RESERVOIR
Guadiana River Basin Authority.
Supervision of the compensatory measures and environmental monitoring of the works to re-forest more than 300 ha with native tree species. Tasks included removing eucalyptus trees, clearing trees from the dam’s flood basin, planting woody plants on the dam face, creating pasture and improving the soil. Rabbits were introduced and a permanent wildlife crossing especially designed for the Iberian lynx was built over the end of the Chanza reservoir. A dunghill for black vultures, lagoons and micro-reservoirs were also created.
