Our colleague Aida Santos has been honoured by EFCA, the European Federation of Engineering Consultancy Associations, as Overall Winner of the Future Leaders Competition, an awards scheme that recognises those young professionals with the greatest potential and leadership skills within the European engineering consultancy sector. This year’s edition received 19 nominations from EFCA member associations across six categories: engineering, contribution to society, climate impact and biodiversity, digitalisation and new technologies, quality of presentation, and winner of the year. The latter award went to Aida, thanks to the support of Tecniberia.
This recognition highlights the extraordinary work carried out by Aida on the Stockholm Metro extension project, one of the most significant urban infrastructure projects in Europe, in which TYPSA is playing a leading role.
In her application for the award, Aida highlighted the impact of the project, which will improve the connection between the city centre and new residential areas under development to the south, as well as fostering new hubs of activity and economic development along the line. Also highlighted were some of the unique features, such as the fact that, for the first time in the history of the Stockholm Metro, the main tunnels will be excavated using a tunnel boring machine. She also highlighted the innovation applied to the models, integrated into a BIM environment and developed using automated processes with parametric tools. She further emphasised the challenges associated with excavating in very hard and abrasive rock, as well as the presence of delicate areas requiring rigorous control during construction.
Our ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams at an international level, provide innovative solutions and contribute to the development of the profession in the field of geotechnics and tunnelling has been key to the success of this initiative and reflects the values that drive our profession: technical excellence, leadership and commitment.
At TYPSA, we celebrate this well-deserved recognition, which highlights the talent of our professionals and our contribution to the development of sustainable and transformative infrastructure for society.
