In the Spanish Confederation of Business Organisations (CEOE) 2025 Catalogue of Good Environmental Practices, two of TYPSA’s good business practices have been recognised, specifically for advancing the ecological and energy transition and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
The first good practice recognises the investment in training and certification in international sustainability standards for TYPSA professionals. Particular attention has been paid to capacity building in the field of infrastructure resilience, specifically climate vulnerability assessments and the development of adaptation plans. These capabilities have enabled TYPSA to support its clients through the certification processes for their projects, notably securing the first Envision certification in Latin America for the Corredor de las Flores in Xochi, Guatemala. Obtaining this certification was one of the requirements for accessing international funding for the project, in this case from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
The second good practice highlighted was the GEOdana innovation and development project, which arose from a commitment to reconstruction and the prevention of disasters caused by extreme weather events in urban areas following the flooding (Dana) in Valencia in October 2024. A group of experts in hydrological planning, hydraulic works, early warning systems and data management systems created this initiative in three phases: the first involved collecting images, videos and citizen reports on the storm through crowdsourcing; the second involved creating an early warning platform to integrate verified and spontaneous data in real time via crowd-reporting; and the third involved analysing the information via a control panel for monitoring and planning mitigation measures . GEOdana also contributes to greater accuracy in hydrological and hydraulic models, enabling the design of more efficient infrastructure and providing local authorities with a greater capacity to respond to flooding.
