Renovation of Metrovalencia infrastructure

As part of the works for the renovation and expansion of Metrovalencia’s network infrastructure, TYPSA, commissioned by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana, has carried out the design and construction supervision of the structural rehabilitation of 2.6 km of tunnel, drainage improvements, and track renewal in the Alameda–Marítim Serrería section of Metro lines 5 and 7 in Valencia.

The infrastructure had severely deteriorated over time, largely due to water ingress, making it necessary to restore it to its original condition. During the summer of 2025, service was suspended for two months while the following works were carried out: hydrodemolition (by robot and by lance) of the affected surface, brushing and passivation of the reinforcement, application of sprayed mortar, joint treatment, and reinstatement of installations. The central duct of the tunnel was replaced with a larger-section duct, and deteriorated sleepers and rails were replaced.

On Wednesday 27th August, the Minister for Environment, Infrastructure and Territory, Vicente Martínez Mus, and the General Manager of Ferrocarrils of the Generalitat Valenciana, Alfonso Novo Belenguer, visited the works prior to the resumption of rail services, scheduled for September 1st 2025.

Visit by the Minister in the presence of Javier Cordellat and Ignacio Ortolano and staff from the construction team.
