Reduction of pollution in the Bay of Asunción and the San Lorenzo Stream.

Improvement of the sanitary and environmental conditions for the population in the area affected by urban streams that discharge into the Bay and the Stream.

Funding: Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

Investment budget: USD 110 million.

Main technical features:

• Varadero Project: preliminary treatment plant with a capacity of 760 l/s, 40 km of main collectors, and 19 km of secondary collectors, serving a population of 350,000 inhabitants.

• San Lorenzo Project: secondary treatment plant with a capacity of 550 l/s, 24 km of
main collectors, and 110 km of secondary collectors, serving a population of 160,000 inhabitants.

• Bella Vista Project: preliminary treatment plant with a capacity of 4,400 l/s, serving a population of 1,200,000 inhabitants.

Services

Management and specialised advisory for the development of the Programme with
support services and administrative management of investments.

Supervision and support services for the commissioning and operation of the plants.

Institutional strengthening by improving the operational and management capacity of the water management company (ESSAP).
