The Doha metro is a rapid transport system that serves the metropolitan area of the capital of Qatar and has three lines, red, green and gold, with a total length of approximately 76 km, and 37 stations. These lines are already in operation using automated driverless trains, and a fourth line is planned to begin operations in 2027.
TYPSA has been involved, since 2014, in the development of this railway network, collaborating with Qatar Rail and the construction companies involved, carrying out detailed designs, geotechnics for viaduct and station foundations, structural design, civil works and MEP installations, architecture, finishes, facades, vertical transport and landscaping, mainly on the red and green lines of the network.
As part of the strategic initiative promoted by Qatar Rail, TYPSA is participating, together with the rest of the companies involved in the project, in a series of seminars focused on the transfer of knowledge acquired and best practices in numerous international transport infrastructure projects together with the Doha metro development itself.
The implementation of this initiative includes a total of 12 seminars distributed over three years, with four sessions held per year, for a progressive deepening of critical technical areas such as design management, project management, and tunnel and station engineering, based on previous experiences in mass transport systems. These serve as the backbone for the transmission of knowledge in civil engineering and infrastructure construction.

Technicians from the Railways division, and the Geotechnical departments, are participating in the development of this project, in their respective areas of tunnels, installations, linear works, architecture and digital services, contributing their knowledge and experience in railway infrastructure and urban transport projects, both in design, management and supervision.
This collaboration reflects TYPSA’s ability to serve as a knowledge bridge between building advanced transport infrastructures and effective project management. Beyond the technical aspects, these seminars contemplate supporting public institutions in optimising their engineering contracting and execution processes, seeking improvement in the management of complex projects, ensuring high quality and sustainable results.
This initiative undoubtedly contributes to strengthening TYPSA’s link with public entities in the Middle East, constituting an enriching exchange of knowledge that benefits the development of megaprojects in the region.
