TYPSA continues to be a leading player in Romania\u2019s renewable energy sector through its role as owner engineering consultant for the\u00a0Vacareni\u00a0wind farm in Tulcea County, developed by BIG MEGA Renewable Energy.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The project will\u00a0comprise\u00a017\u00a0Goldwind\u00a0GW165 6 MW wind turbines, totalling an installed capacity of 102 MW, and will include a 33\/400 kV step-up substation, a 400 kV GIS (gas-insulated) substation and a 400 kV high-voltage transmission line for connection to the national grid.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

TYPSA\u2019s involvement in the\u00a0Vacareni\u00a0project stems from a collaboration that began well before construction work\u00a0commenced. In late 2024, the developer entrusted TYPSA with providing support during the initial phases of the project\u2019s development, including feasibility studies, the preparation of tender documentation, the technical and commercial evaluation of bids, and contractual negotiations for the main design packages relating to civil and electrical engineering, as well as the contract for the supply and installation of wind turbines.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This early involvement enabled TYPSA to contribute to the technical and contractual definition of the project,\u00a0subsequently\u00a0facilitating\u00a0the transition to its current role as owner\u2019s engineer during the construction phase.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The project is currently in full swing, with the designs,\u00a0drawings\u00a0and specifications for construction 96 per cent complete. Project management is coordinated by TYPSA\u2019s Energy Construction Management division, with the involvement of multidisciplinary teams from different areas of the company, including specialists in civil engineering, linear infrastructure, geotechnical\u00a0engineering\u00a0and hydraulics.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As the owner\u2019s engineer, TYPSA provides technical engineering review services,\u00a0monitors\u00a0the manufacture of key equipment, supervises civil and electrical works, supports commissioning, and acts as the supervisory body and Health and Safety coordinator\u00a0in accordance with\u00a0Romanian regulations.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The project has now entered a phase of intense construction activity, with work progressing on multiple fronts simultaneously. The civil contractor, CJR Renewables, has completed approximately 93 per cent of the medium-voltage collection network and 45 per cent of the wind farm\u2019s internal access roads. As for the wind turbine foundations, the piles for two turbine sites have already been driven, and the associated tests are currently being carried out. Of the 17 planned sites, 16 will have pile foundations, whilst one will be constructed using a gravity foundation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, preparatory work is being finalised on the platform that will house both the wind farm\u2019s substation and the future GIS substation belonging to\u00a0Transelectrica, the electricity system operator in Romania. The electrical contractor is expected to begin mobilisation to the site shortly to start work on these facilities.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0With regard to\u00a0the supply of wind turbines,\u00a0Goldwind\u00a0has successfully completed factory acceptance tests on the main components. The project will be finalised in the coming\u00a0weeks,\u00a0and the first batch of turbines is due to arrive on site in September.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

TYPSA\u2019s involvement in\u00a0Vacareni\u00a0comes on top of other strategic projects recently undertaken in Romania, a market that is experiencing significant growth driven by its energy transition policy and new investments in renewable generation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Among these, the\u00a0Pestera\u00a0II wind farm, developed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, stands out with a capacity of 396 MW. For this project, TYPSA has carried out the engineering work for the associated infrastructure, including two 33\/110 kV substations, one 33\/110\/400 kV substation and the geotechnical survey of the site.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

TYPSA is also currently involved in the Ialomi\u021ba wind project, in the\u00a0\u021a\u0103nd\u0103rei\u00a0area, a 128.1 MW wind farm\u00a0comprising\u00a021 wind turbines, for which it is carrying out the detailed engineering for access roads, turbine foundations and the medium-voltage collection network.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With projects such as\u00a0Vacareni,\u00a0Pestera\u00a0II and Ialomi\u021ba, TYPSA continues to strengthen its position as a leading technical partner for developers, investors and financial institutions, supporting the development of renewable energy projects from the initial planning and tendering phases through to the construction and commissioning of the assets.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
