The projects, backed by two loans granted to the Paraguayan government, aim to expand the sewer network, improve wastewater treatment and optimise drinking water supply systems in five cities in the departments of Alto Paran\u00e1, Central, Misiones and Paraguar\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sanitation in Medium-Sized Towns: four new treatment plants<br \/>\n<\/strong>The first of the programmes, known as Sanitation in Medium-Sized Towns, involves the construction of four wastewater treatment plants in Santa Rosa, Santa Rita, San Ignacio and Carapegu\u00e1. These facilities will benefit some 50,600 residents, with an investment of US$52.3 million.<\/p>\n<p>The project also includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>145 km of sewer networks<\/li>\n<li>10.3 km of pressure mains<\/li>\n<li>New pumping stations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Through these measures, Paraguay is making progress in reducing untreated discharges and improving the environmental quality of its urban catchment areas.<\/p>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-81790 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.typsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PARAGUAY_SANEA-A_26-800x467.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"467\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.typsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PARAGUAY_SANEA-A_26-800x467.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.typsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PARAGUAY_SANEA-A_26-1024x597.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.typsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PARAGUAY_SANEA-A_26-768x448.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.typsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PARAGUAY_SANEA-A_26.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/>Replacement works involving the installation of sewer networks in San Ignacio<\/h6>\n<p><strong>Mariano Roque Alonso: a strategic intervention in the metropolitan area<br \/>\n<\/strong>The second programme managed by TYPSA is being implemented in the city of Mariano Roque Alonso, some 30 km from Asunci\u00f3n. Plans are in place to construct a wastewater treatment plant using activated sludge technology, which will benefit more than 115,000 residents, with an estimated investment of 160 million dollars, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>13.92 km of pressure pipes<\/li>\n<li>460 km of sewer networks<\/li>\n<li>6 pumping stations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This project is crucial for the metropolitan area, where urban growth has increased pressure on existing sanitation systems.<\/p>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-81792\" src=\"https:\/\/www.typsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PARAGUAY_SANEA-B_26-800x467.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"467\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.typsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PARAGUAY_SANEA-B_26-800x467.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.typsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PARAGUAY_SANEA-B_26-1024x597.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.typsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PARAGUAY_SANEA-B_26-768x448.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.typsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PARAGUAY_SANEA-B_26.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><br \/>\nProgress on the construction of the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Santa Rita<\/h6>\n<p><strong>Comprehensive support for the implementation of the loans<br \/>\n<\/strong>TYPSA\u2019s role is to assist the Ministry\u2019s Directorate of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DAPSAN) in the implementation of both loans. The tasks assigned include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Human resources and logistics management<\/li>\n<li>Risk planning and management<\/li>\n<li>Procurement and tendering processes in accordance with Paraguayan regulations<\/li>\n<li>Contract monitoring and supervision<\/li>\n<li>Quality assurance and compliance with technical standards<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To this end, TYPSA has deployed a mixed team of local and international specialists, comprising hydraulic engineers, sanitation experts, geotechnical engineers, and legal, financial, social and environmental specialists, with an average of 25 professionals, depending on the progress of the programmes. Some of the staff have been trained in GIO, TYPSA\u2019s internal tool that enables real-time monitoring of project progress, facilitating decision-making and transparency in management.<\/p>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-81794 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.typsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PARAGUAY_SANEA-C_26-800x467.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"467\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.typsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PARAGUAY_SANEA-C_26-800x467.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.typsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PARAGUAY_SANEA-C_26-1024x597.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.typsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PARAGUAY_SANEA-C_26-768x448.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.typsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PARAGUAY_SANEA-C_26.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/>The TYPSA Group team together with all stakeholders involved in the project management\u2014MOPC, supervision, and the contractor.<\/h6>\n<p><strong>A boost to the country\u2019s sustainable development<br \/>\n<\/strong>With the launch of these projects, TYPSA is strengthening its presence in Paraguay and its commitment to the country\u2019s sustainable development. The interventions contribute directly to improving public health, protecting water resources and advancing towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation).<\/p>\n<p>These investments are in line with the national strategy to expand sanitation coverage, a long-standing challenge in Paraguay, where significant disparities still exist between urban and peri-urban areas.
