Therefore,\u00a0the need to\u00a0establish\u00a0connections\u00a0between lines\u00a0becomes more pressing as we move\u00a0away from\u00a0the centre, especially in the eastern part of the network.\u00a0This problem particularly affects line 5, which stops just short of connecting with Adolfo Su\u00e1rez Madrid-Barajas\u00a0airport.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The extension of line 5\u00a0from Alameda de Osuna station to Aeropuerto T1-T2-T3 station\u00a0provides a solution to this problem,\u00a0improving\u00a0connectivity between the city centre and\u00a0the\u00a0aforementioned\u00a0airport terminals, linking at this point with\u00a0line 8,\u00a0which\u00a0in turn\u00a0connects to T4, through an extension and renovation of the station that will connect both lines.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This project will benefit\u00a0almost\u00a062 million people who use the airport each year\u00a0and, above all, more\u00a0than 40,000 people who work there.\u00a0The works are being financed by the European Commission through the allocation of ERDF funds\u00a0under the Community of Madrid Programme 2021-2027 and will take a total of 38 months to complete.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-81674 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.typsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/L5B_2026-800x549.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"549\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.typsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/L5B_2026-800x549.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.typsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/L5B_2026-1024x702.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.typsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/L5B_2026-768x527.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.typsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/L5B_2026.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><span class=\"TextRun SCXW212759293 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW212759293 BCX0\">Overall plan for the extension of <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW212759293 BCX0\">l<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW212759293 BCX0\">ine 5 to Adolfo Su\u00e1rez Madrid-Barajas\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW212759293 BCX0\">a<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW212759293 BCX0\">irport. Community of Madrid.)<\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP Selected SCXW212759293 BCX0\" data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Since May 2025, TYPSA, together with another associated consultancy firm,\u00a0has been providing\u00a0construction management and health and safety coordination\u00a0services\u00a0for this project, on behalf of\u00a0the Directorate-General for Public Transport Infrastructure of the\u00a0Regional Ministry of Housing,\u00a0Transport\u00a0and Infrastructure of the Community of Madrid.\u00a0\u00a0The\u00a0team consists\u00a0of the construction manager, execution manager, health and safety coordinator, facilities technician, construction management support\u00a0technician\u00a0and BIM manager.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The project involves the construction of a 1,747\u00a0metre tunnel, of which 683 metres will be excavated using the traditional Madrid method, and\u00a0the remaining\u00a01,064 metres\u00a0will be constructed\u00a0between screens with a covered slab, including the station\u00a0connecting\u00a0with line 8.\u00a0The tunnel, which will have five access points and three simultaneous\u00a0working faces, will include two\u00a0emergency exits, a\u00a0ventilation\u00a0shaft\u00a0and a pumping shaft.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The\u00a0contract also includes the installation\u00a0of\u00a0a double electrified track and\u00a0a four-track\u00a0train depot\u00a0at\u00a0the\u00a0end of line 5,\u00a0with\u00a0capacity for four trains, as well as the safety, signalling and communications facilities for the commissioning of the line.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The\u00a0renovation of the\u00a0Airport T1-T2-T3 station will be visible through\u00a0an\u00a0extensive glass roof that will rise above the\u00a0central\u00a0area\u00a0of the station. This element gives it an\u00a0elegance\u00a0in keeping with its important functional and spatial role as a welcoming setting\u00a0for\u00a0visitors arriving in Madrid, as\u00a0it is intended to be the atrium or prelude to the city,\u00a0offering\u00a0a friendly and warm experience to users through the presence of natural light and the transparency provided by the sloping glass panels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-81676 aligncenter\" inside and, ultimately, the\u00a0future Terminal Building.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Measuring 30.40 x 53.30 m, the roof\u00a0comprises\u00a0a glazed surface area of 1,620m\u00b2\u00a0located\u00a0above the large\u00a0central\u00a0area\u00a0of the station, with a volume of 19,325 m<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">3<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0,\u00a0interrupted only by the 47.50 m long suspended\u00a0walkway connecting the two lobbies\u00a0on either side.\u00a0These figures reflect\u00a0the\u00a0magnitude\u00a0of the proposed operation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-81678 aligncenter\" data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Creation of\u00a0auxiliary facility areas (ZIAS) 1 and 2.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Assembly of\u00a0the\u00a0site\u00a0offices.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Relocation of the petrol station\u00a0to\u00a0allow\u00a0work\u00a0on the new station to begin.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Excavation of the\u00a0tunnel\u00a0access shafts.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Construction of screens management team, the\u00a0contractor\u00a0and Metro de Madrid,\u00a0to discuss the progress and monitoring of the work carried out during the current week,\u00a0and\u00a0the forecast\u00a0for the\u00a0following\u00a0week.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Document management for the project is carried out through\u00a0TYPSA&#8217;s\u00a0SharePoint,\u00a0where\u00a0the vast\u00a0amount of\u00a0documentation generated by\u00a0the project\u00a0is\u00a0uploaded\u00a0and organised.<\/span><span
