Kanpur and Agra are two of the fastest growing cities in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Kanpur, an industrial city with a population of 2.8 million, is one of the world\u2019s leading leather producers and is home to prestigious educational institutions. Agra, city of the Taj Mahal and an important tourism hub, with a population of 1.6 million, was the former capital during the Mughal period of government.<\/p>\n
With the approval of the Kanpur and Agra metro projects, the Indian government aims to address the need to upgrade and modernise public transport infrastructure, providing appropriate connectivity for growth, which will significantly improve quality of life for the population.<\/p>\n
The Kanpur metro project includes the construction of 32.4 km of line with 30 stations. The first phase comprises two intersecting metropolitan railway lines, both with elevated and underground sections, and the construction of workshops and depots.<\/p>\n

Agra metro will comprise two lines with a total length of 29.4 km and 27 stations, which will cross the heart of the city and connect the main tourist attractions. They will also have elevated and underground sections, and the corresponding workshops and depots.<\/p>\n
The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation was created to develop the projects and will undertake the construction of both systems with funds from the Indian government and the European Investment Bank.<\/p>\n
TYPSA is the consortium lead for the General Consultant services for comprehensive Project and Construction Management of the new network of both metros. A total of up to 20 civil works and systems contracts are being managed to achieve the challenging goal of commissioning the priority corridor \u2013 9 km of track on viaduct and 9 stations \u2013 to become operational by the end of 2021.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
