The Directorate General for Water engaged TYPSA to manage risk governance, climate change adaptation and safety investment prioritisation for state-owned Segura River Basin Authority dams.<\/p>\n
The Water Public Domain Regulation considers the need to include risk management (always bearing in mind that there is no such thing as zero risk) as a fundamental element of Dam Safety. Following the example of some of the most developed countries in the world, the Spanish water authority has launched this project to establish priority actions based on effectiveness in reducing both the risk and the consequences in the event of an infrastructure failure.<\/p>\n
In this context, TYPSA will systematically assess the safety of 31 dams. Work includes analysing dam conditions, developing failure mode sessions and identifying, analysing and assessing all the risk factors for each dam, including climate change. The risks and consequences for each one will be quantified by developing individual comprehensive risk assessments.<\/p>\n
Finally, support will be provided to the Segura River Basin Authority for implementing procedures that assess data and risk factors on a continuous basis to integrate all the information and thus enable the authority to monitor and evaluate the measures adopted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
