\u2018Nationally Determined Contributions\u2019 (NDCs) are key to the 2015 Paris Agreement in which 169 countries committed to national policies for sustainable development and limiting the effects of global warming.\u00a0NDCs embody each country\u2019s efforts to reduce its emissions and adapt to the effects of climate change.<\/p>\n
Every 5 years, each signatory country must submit its contributions to the long-term objectives set out in the Agreement. NDCs are updated on the basis of the goals achieved in each period. The European Union has expressed its intention to become a key player in this process both through internal actions in support of its Member States and through external actions, establishing climate change as a fundamental axis of its foreign policy.<\/p>\n
TYPSA and Agrer are part of the consortium selected by the Commission to provide high-level technical assistance to this process, advising on the design, update and implementation of the NDCs, long-term strategies (LTS) and national adaptation plans (NAPs) of the signatory countries, in the context of the Paris Agreement, the Sendai Framework and Agenda 2030.<\/p>\n
The project is expected to last 60 months and TYPSA and Agrer contribute, together with the rest of the consortium members, by creating an extensive full-time group of experts, located in Brussels.<\/p>\n
