Key facts

New 190 km line connecting Payra strategic seaport, Kuakata tourist area and the freight logistics centre in Bhanga in the south of the country.

The project includes 11 stations and the route crosses 8 major river bridges over various important rivers up to 800 m wide.

The line will be used for industrial freight and will serve most of the country’s imports and exports.

Environmental impact study, corrective measures programme, resettlement plan and inventory of assets affected by the project for the construction of the new railway line. Independent environmental impact study for each of the 8 major bridges.
