What we do

Geology/Geotechnical engineering

TYPSA has a team of more than 120 specialists working in applied geology, hydrogeology and geotechnical engineering across 10 countries. Their extensive experience and skills enable them to offer an integrated service to address all the issues the various stages of the infrastructure lifecycle entail, from concept to construction.

Fully aware of the critical importance of geotechnical engineering for any project, TYPSA applies procedures that incorporate the strictest safety criteria to successfully and efficiently address geotechnical design issues and deliver the best final product in terms of technical quality and cost. TYPSA’s geotechnical specialists provide geotechnical services for projects in the company’s main fields of activity:

  • Highways
  • Dams
  • Hydraulic works
  • Maritime works
  • Emblematic buildings
  • Iconic bridges
  • Energy projects
  • Special studies
  • Numerical modelling.

Our geotechnical team’s high degree of specialisation is constantly kept up to date to incorporate the latest developments in applied geotechnical engineering in both soil and rock mechanics. Activities range from collecting field data and in-situ and laboratory tests, interpreted and analysed in the office, to the most complex analytical and numerical modelling using specific commercial and in-house calculation software. Uncertainty and risk are always present when addressing geotechnical aspects and require focus, caution and ingenuity.

  • Geological and geotechnical studies
  • Material analysis for earth structures
  • Cut and fill slope stability analysis
  • Foundations for structures
  • Tunnels and underground works
  • Ground improvement and ground treatments
  • Numerical stress-strain analysis
  • Analysis of filtration in porous media
  • Study of geotechnical pathologies and corrective measures
  • Instrumentation, monitoring and control.

TYPSA is actively involved in key technical forums and geological-geotechnical associations such as AETESS (Spanish Association of Soil and Subsoil Technology Companies), SEMR (Spanish Society of Rock Mechanics), SEMSIG (Spanish Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering) and STMR (Technical Services for Rock Mechanics).
