Guadarrama tunnels:
Spain’s longest railway tunnel
TYPSA is carrying out control and surveillance tasks at the infrastructure and railway works in section Soto del Real-Segovia, corresponding to the new railway access to the north and northwest of Spain. These are unique works, both because of their record-breaking length as well as their strategic importance in the development of the High Speed Railway Network in Spain.
This section starts off at the southeastern tip of the tunnel which passes through the Guadarrama mountain range (28.377 m in length).
Total tunnel length is about 29 km, with a diameter of 8.5 m. Every 250 meters there will be a gallery connecting to the parallel tunnel. Tunnel cladding will consist of rings with a base dowel formed by six dowels plus a closing dowel 32 cm thick, and an interior radius measuring 8,500 mm. |
The AVE (Spain's high-speed rail) under Madrid
TYPSA has been the consulting engineering company selected to complete the preliminary and final engineering design as well as to provide construction supervision services of the European gauge rail connection between the Atocha and Chamartin stations in Madrid.
This assignment is integrated within the project of providing a high speed rail access to Levante (East Coast). It is a very complex assignment that will provide the key connection to integrate Spain's high speed rail network.
It is a 10,40 m internal diameter double track tunnel built with a tunneling machine from the Atocha station (south of Madrid) to the Chamartin station (North of Madrid). The total length is 7,4 km.
