Roads Division Manager
Manuel Cano Espinosa

TYPSA started its road-related activities back in 1967 when the Columina construction company commissioned TYPA to design a section of the National Road II (or CN-II) from Madrid to Barcelona. In 1972 the General Roads Directorate of the Ministry of Works awarded TYPSA the design of 56 km of the CN-VI and CN-525 which were included in the Access Plan to Galicia from Madrid.

Since then, TYPSA has continuously participated in the development of all types of road transport infrastructure, not only for the Ministry of Works and its different departments, but also for other public institutions, operators, construction companies and international institutions. This has brought a vast experience that is recognized day after day through success and credit in all interventions.

Toll highway Cartagena – Vera

The feasibility study for the toll highway Cartagena-Vera incorporates an important technological advance: the use of orthophotographs instead of the traditional planimetry deployed in carthography.

This is a very new system, having used in this occasion an orthophotograph area of more than 170,000 ha at a 1:5,000 scale, with 120 km in length and 14 km in width.

Having surpassed the different official proceedings for the study’s approval, TYPSA has drafted the preliminary design for the solution of choice.

AP-6 Guadarrama Tunnels

TYPSA has drafted the final design of a third carriageway for the AP-6 toll highway (Villalba-Adanero) between the junction at Valle de los Caidos and San Rafael, which includes a third tunnel 3,000 m long for three lanes and 14 auxiliary galleries, which add to a total of 2,000 in order to increase the overall security of the three tunnels.

All of which aims at increasing the AP-6 capacity in such section and improving security in the current Guadarrama tunnels, incorporating the above mentioned escape galleries and the latest advances in terms of mechanical, electrical, communications, security and control facilities.
